Dear Parents/Guardians,

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves to you as Mr. Paul, the 7th grade mathematics and science teacher, and Ms. Kylah the 7th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher at Archimedes Academy for the 2008-2009 school year.

It is with great pleasure and excitement that we welcome you and your child back into our 7th grade learning community at the Archimedes Academy for Math, Science, and Technology Applications. We are looking forward to a fun and successful year full of learning and new experiences for your child and our entire classroom of learners. This year we have an exciting, project-based curriculum planned for the students. We endeavor to make the material fun and interesting while still maintaining and surpassing the standards set by New York State.

Both of us are new to Archimedes Academy and we feel extremely fortunate to be working with a dedicated staff whose only goal is to provide the best education for your children. We are also very excited to get to know all the students. It has only been a few weeks, but we already know it is going to be a great year!

We have enclosed a brief class summary, which has been passed out to the students. We hope it gives you a sense of why we are excited about this year’s curriculum.

We value your input and fully believe that the academic success of your child will rest in large part on our ability to communicate with each other and provide the right kind of instruction and support for your child.

Please feel free to contact us whenever you have a question.

You can reach us at the school number 718-617-5046 and leave a message. We promise to return your call as soon as possible.
You can also e-mail us at ktorre@archimedesacademy.org or Precktenwald@archimedesacademy.org.
You may make comments for us or send notes with your child regarding any concerns you may have.

We look forward to working closely with you and your child this school year.

Sincerely,

Paul Recktenwald Kylah Torre
