Description of Course:
We will be focusing on American History, beginning with American Indian peoples and moving through colonization, the Revolutionary War, the construction of the United States government, westward expansion, and the lead up to the Civil War.
Goals:
Meet New York State standards for social studies curriculum, including:
· Exploring the meaning of American culture and multiculturalism
· Investigating key events and individuals in New York State and United States history
· Evaluating historical documents and artifacts
Grading Policy:
Grades are determined as follows:
§ 30% Tests
§ 30% Projects
§ 10% Homework (children will be given homework every day, including weekends)
§ 10% Quizzes (one per week)
§ 20% Class work assignments
